24: The Complete Second Season DVD

24: The Complete Second Season
Cast: Keifer Sutherland
Studio: Fox
Rating: 7/10

Corporate Line: The series retains its unique format in the second season. Each episode covers one hour of real time and the entire season will take place in one day. In the finale of season one, Jack Bauer (Sutherland), who heads up the Los Angeles branch of the Counter-Terrorist Unit (CTU), thwarted an assassination attempt on the life of Senator David Palmer (Dennis Haysbert). However, in the process, Jack’s wife Teri (Leslie Hope) was killed. In season two, Jack and his daughter Kim (Elisha Cuthbert) must deal with the trauma of that loss and its effect on their relationship. In the meantime, Jack, who has been inactive since Teri’s death, is called upon — by now-President Palmer — to stop another terrorist plot with global implications. In addition, Kate Warner (new series regular Sarah Wynter, Lost Souls), a woman of wealth and beauty, comes into Jack’s life as the sister of Marie (Laura Harris) who was part of the terrorist cell.

Existing and new fans can catch up on this hit TV phenomenon and see what everyone is talking about. All episodes of ““24” SEASON TWO DVD COLLECTION are compiled on seven dual-layered discs, widescreen and the special features include three featurettes, 44 branching deleted scenes with optional commentary that include alternate endings and more. Each episode is presented in all new English 5.1 Digital, and Spanish and English subtitles.

The Good: For anyone reading this and haven’t watched the show on television, you have no idea what you are missing. 24 is one intelligent show. It keeps you thinking and guessing with each episode. There is nothing more exciting than craving a show all day long – wondering and waiting for answers to the cliffhanger from last week. Now you don’t have to wait.

The opening of the season comes in as a lion and ends exactly the same. The problem is…

The Bad: Mid-season trips over itself. There are too many meandering side-stories. You get the feeling that some characters are brought in to sidetrack you from the lack of ideas, it works until you realize the big picture. Season one didn’t lack focus and really was much better.
