THE SHOW: Rob Morrow neurotic nature mixes in perfectly with this oddball show. The most interesting thing about Northern Exposure is how easy it is to watch 10 or more years later. It aged very well—only the bad hair and clothing give away its age.

The stories area always bizarre and the characters even more so—but that is the charm of Northern Exposure. No matter how out of wack everything appears you never really find it odd—its more fun just going with the flow.

The characters, as any fan knows, are well developed and one of the finest casts on television at the time. Some of the best episodes are “Seoul Mates,” “Burning Down The House,” and “Our Wedding.”

DVD FEATURES: There are some nice extras. The deleted scenes are fun—but only for one look. The unexposed scenes are merely bloopers. The best of the bunch are the lost storylines that give insight into where certain narratives that never developed. It’s interesting to see where certain cast members stories could have gone.

FRANKLY: Universal has mishandled the Northern Exposure releases by changing the original music and swapping it with Musak. Even with out the original music Northern Exposure: the Complete Third Season is a must own. If you haven’t seen the first two seasons you might want to pick those up as well—however it’s not necessary as you can get sucked right in without the introduction.
