CORPORATE LINE: GREY’S ANATOMY is “a winner,” raves the New York Daily News. Both a critical hit and fan favorite, season one burst onto the television landscape with gripping plot lines, a sensational soundtrack, and hot stars, including Ellen Pompeo, Patrick Dempsey, and Sandra Oh. Now you can experience all the drama, romance, and excitement of GREY’S ANATOMY from the very beginning. Meet Meredith Grey, a brilliant first-year surgical intern at Seattle Grace Hospital. Together with her fellow residents in training, Meredith navigates her way through the daily traumas and social landmines of life inside the hospital and out in the real world. GREY’S ANATOMY is a smart and witty look at young people struggling to be doctors and doctors struggling to stay human.

THE REVIEW: When Grey’s Anatomy first came on everyone thought it was going to be another bland hospital show. Instead Grey’s Anatomy turned out to be a huge surprise. After sitting down and only planning to watch one episode ended up burning an entire Saturday watching all nine episodes.

Grey’s Anatomy does well at making the show not a frat house like Scrubs and gets into real hospital lingo and settings. Grey’s Anatomy also goes into bizarre cases like ER and House. The best thing about Grey’s Anatomy is the wonderful relationships with the cast members—those relationships aren’t nearly as uptight as ER. ER was always very serious and it’s the lightheartedness of Anatomy that draws viewers in.

All of the characters stand out in what is one of the best ensembles on television. Each character stands out and brings a great diversity to the show. Sandra Oh plays one of the best character, Christina, on Anatomy. The pretty Ellen Pompeo, who plays the show namesake Meredith Grey, adds spice with her relationship with the resurgent Patrick Dempsey. Each character is so easy to enjoy and fall in love with that you find yourself continually cheering and sobbing and locked into their every move.

THE EXTRAS:
Commentary by: Creator Shonda Rhimes and director Peter Horton discuss the pilot episode. Finally there is an interesting cast commentary with Sandra Oh, Katie Heigl and T.R. Knight.

“Anatomy of a Pilot” – The featurettes are what they call the “toughest cuts from the pilot episode.” We get to see what was shot but never made it to the final cut.

“Dissecting Grey’s Anatomy” – Included are a few exclusive unaired scenes.

“Behind the scenes of Grey’s Anatomy” – Twelve minutes behind the scenes with the show creator Shonda Rhimes and director Peter Horton.

FRANKLY: Even with the unusual cases that often go overboard, Grey’s Anatomy has such good chemistry with its cast that you can forgive any limitations.
