Batman The Movie

Batman The Movie
Cast: Cesar Romero
Studio: Fox
Rating: 7/10

Batman The Movie, with the cast from the original series shot in the sixties, came out before I was even born. Heck, I didn’t even know the movie existed until it showed up on my doorstep. I popped it in expecting the worst, but I got the best. The movie itself is often hilarious, sometimes stupid (in a good way), and just plain zany fun. One of the most notable scenes in the movie is Batman getting a shark clamped down on his leg and using shark repellent to get rid of the beast. But no scene is better than Batman finding a bomb and running around a dock trying to find a place to throw it into the ocean so it can safely explode. After running around for a few minutes and not being able to find a place, Batman stops and stares at the camera, deadpanning, “Some days you can’t get rid of a bomb.” Classic.

There are villains galore with the Joker (Cesar Romero), the Riddler (Frank Gorshin), the Penguin (Burgess Meredith), and the sexy Catwoman (Lee Meriwether – not the series Catwoman). And of course Burt Ward is there, playing Robin.

The best things about the DVD are Adam West and Burt Ward giving their thoughts on not only the movie, but the series as well. The original Batman is undoubtedly worth the money.
