NFL QB Club 2002

NFL QB Club 2002
Game: NFL QB Club 2002
Platform: PS2
Studio: Acclaim
Rating: 6/10

Look: The game feels slow and that’s because of the graphics. The actions seem to almost pause. They distort the gameplay and it’s quite aggravating.

The players don’t look like they belong on the PS2. There is something about them that I can’t quite put my finger on, but when you compare it to Madden where the players seem to be right, here they seem to be wrong. When you look at Madden from a distance on your tv, you feel like it could be real. QB Club 2002 looks cartoony in comparison, though they do have many realistic faces.

Feel: The computer just doesn’t seem to be all that bright here. The challenge is nonexistent. That really hinders the interest in this game. The game and play really do work in an interesting way that’s generally good, but still it’s hindered.

The playbook is as annoying as it gets. After getting used to how games like Madden or NFL2K play, this one seems like a step back, even though some things are a step forward. The biggest step back is the offensive plays. Where are the unique plays for my teams?

Hear: Bleep, blip, blop. Poor intuitive commentary and full of bugs.

Finally: If you are standing in the store and you have NFL QB Club 2002 and Madden there, we know the choice is simple. Even the addition of the Quarterback Challenge shouldn’t turn you away from Madden. There are things that need to be improved upon and I’m not convinced that this game won’t be better for the 2003 version, but this one is hard to recommend.
