Mafia grabs you by the lapels and plunges you into the middle of a vicious and deadly turf war. The cops, the feds, the Morello family – each of them are out to get you and none of them care how they take you down.

Launched on the PC in 2002, Mafia received universal acclaim across the world with its blend of action and plot driven narrative. With Mafia living out your wise guy ambitions could not be easier.
Arriving on both PS2 and X-Box, Mafia has been enhanced to deliver an awesome console experience that will make the Cosa Nostra look like a bunch of choirboys.
Look: What happened to the cool looking PC game? It’s as if they decided to ruin the look for the PS2—its terrible. It’s rare that the gorgeous graphics comes through on the PS2. It’s a sad, sad thing.

The In the animation is just plain bad and the frame rate is poor. The characters are decent. The textures are okay, however the movements are very stiff. The lightening is awful. It’s unbelievable, how could such a good- looking PC game get such a bad porting? The cars look cool; however there are problems with many background textures that will have you very annoyed.

Feel: Don’t confuse this with Grand Theft Auto. It’s very linear which doesn’t destroy the overall effect. Much of Mafia is split between driving and shooting. There are issues with where in the world you are going and what you are supposed to be doing. Sometimes there seems to be no rhyme to the reason.

Hear: The character acting is great. Actually the highlight of the game is the sound. We’ve said it a million times; if sound is your games best asset you are in trouble. The soundtrack is perfectly plucked from the ‘30s and works very well.

Frankly: Mafia is a half-assed port from the PC to PS2. We know from playing the PC version that this could have been so much better. What went wrong? The graphics are terrible and the game play is almost as bad. The story is strong and that is all the good we can say about that. You got a problem with that?
