Remember Onyx? I don’t know why that group broke up or broke down, but they absolutely rocked. Well, they rocked on Bacdafucup and the hit “Slam”. Since then, they haven’t been as important or visible. The no nonsense thugs of Onyx now are taking their chances as solo artists.

Sticky Fingaz was the loud-mouthed bulldog that spit hot lines while the rest of the crew dizzied your head. Sticky Fingaz doesn’t sound like he can hold it together with the in your face style of Onyx all by himself.

After a few savory tracks, “Money Talks” brings it the way real hip-hop always gets you, with the truth hidden inside synthetic beats. “State vs Kirk Jones” is guest stars galore, but the recreation of a mock court case is more entertaining than any episode of Night Court. Eminem does a walk on for “What If I Was White”. It’s funnier than it is interesting. It’s something we’ve heard forever.

There are songs that are pretty lame, like “Why”, but then there are songs that are intelligent, such as “Oh My God” and “Sister I’m Sorry”. “Sister…” is a message long overdue for women. And then there is the hilarious track like “Ghetto” and the definition of what it means to truly be ghetto.
