The first line is the only thing I can agree with. I guess if you like your pop straight between the eyes you may have a little trouble relating to the subtleties of David Mead's storytelling. His words conjure up images and make you think rather than spelling out a cut and dried scene. Wittiness can fail by the pitch or the catch. Personally, I catch a lot of Mr. Mead's imaginative lyrics, and appreciate the beauty of those open to interpretation. And while I might agree that record contracts are being given to the wrong contestants these days, that observation would hardly apply to this album as it came out in 1999. David Mead has been on a couple of different labels over the last eight years that have been swallowed up by one of the Big Four. He is currently releasing songs from his own independent label, Tallulah! I'd give "Luxury of Time" (1999), "Mine and Yours" (2001), "Indiana" (2004), "Wherever You Are" (2005), and "Tangerine" (2006) each a 9/10 rating.
